Originally from London, England, John Freestone learned the basics of his craft there and is a Master Engraver, Silversmith, Sculptor, Mold, Tool and Die-maker and Artist. After completing an apprenticeship in hand engraving and attending 2 years of Art College, John then turned his efforts towards Pantograph Machining and Engraving. Working with different applications and exposed to a wide variety of projects, John developed expertise in a number of machine engraving and die-making techniques. John gives credit to the inspiration he received from some very talented industry specialists that he had the good fortune to have worked with. In 1966 John moved to the U.S.A. where he continued to hone his skills, mainly in the injection mold industry. In 1969 John started his own engraving business and ultimately becoming so well known for his skills that requests for his work flowed in from all parts of the North American continent. In 1978 John began work on developing a means to replicate hand engraving by die striking.
